There are days when I walk into the gym and feel like tackling the world, other days I cringe at the thought of jumping on a treadmill. For the days, I’m pushing myself to just walk through the door of the gym, I make sure my iPod is charged and ready to get me through my workout. I find music can take a so-so workout and make it inspiring. It changes my perspective, which in turn changes the effort I put into my daily routine.
There are so many types of music available to inspire my body to push beyond it’s comfort zone. No matter the genre, I love songs that keep me pumped up and ready to work hard. My preferences in the type of music I’m listening to change as frequently as the type of workout I’m performing. I make different playlists, so I can quickly change my music as my workout progresses.
I love running to dance music. The quick steady beat keeps my feet moving at a comfortable pace, while feeling like minimal effort. Rocking to Pink distracts my mind and I feel like the time flies by faster than the miles. I also choose songs I can sing along to. When you sing as you run, it helps to regulate your breathing. The motivation of the music makes me feel like I can conquer the world.
As much I love the fast beat of pop music, lifting weights requires Rock in my world. Give me music with an attitude to get me through a strenuous weight training session. I love the added strength I feel when I’m rocking to the bad boys of Buck Cherry or AC/DC. Rock music gives my mind the determination to push through the tough sessions and the strength to continually challenge my body.
Country has it’s own unique place in my heart during my workout routines. On those days, when I mixing it up, I choose my upbeat country playlist and let them inspire me to sing my way through a grueling Elliptical session or a run on the treadmill. Country music has so many songs with great beats and stories to inspire. Some of my favorite artists include Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, and Sugarland.
No matter, which music you prefer, let it pump up your exercise routine and inspire greatness! What music inspires you the most? Leave a comment and let us know….http://harrysangels.com/music-to-inspire/
